So... yes I like to run - scratch that... I LOVE to run. Hitting the pavement and taking some time for "me", all while working up a good sweat is probably one of the best feelings on EARTH! Whether it be for 1 mile or 30 ~ it IS running and I LAAAAAAAAAAAHUVE IT!
Here is a little back-ground info on my "journey to find a good shoe". When I first started running, a few years ago, I went to Sports Authority and bought the cutest pair of Saucony shoes in a size 7 (my normal size). I started running and noticed both of my toe nails on the "toe next to the big one" started to get purple and then one day they fell off - nice huh? I started getting blisters all over the sides of my feet and my ankles. I thought "hey this must be what it feels like to be a REAL runner" - WRONG.... My SIL told me to head to a good running store (Fleet Feet or Big River Running Company) - so I FINALLY did after much mutilation of my feet.
I chose Fleet Feet and headed in. An employee looked at my feet, studied the shoes I had on, ran some computer thing over my feet, and then came out with a few boxes in a size 8 (yes your feet swell when running - you need to size UP). She had me try on the shoes and then go outside and run in them, while she watched - so she could make sure the type of shoe fit my "stride". It was EPIC. The moment I started running in a well fit pair of running shoes - it was like air... no pain, my feet felt light, my hips felt good, and it all CLICKED!!! HEAVEN!
Alright I vlogged my favorite brand.... Here you go
Now link up with us... Click around below, check out other people's favorite shoe, and most importantly get your a** out there - and in the words of Chris Brown... RUN IT!
I agree with you 100%. It is SO important to go to a good running store and have your feet and run properly analyzed! I had been wearing my running shoes too small as well! Thanks for hosting the linkup!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the link up, I just bought my first pair of running shoes last week. Hopefully I did enough research and got a good pair. I wish I had known before I bought these that you were having the link up, I would have waited, I ordered them the day before you posted about it. =)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to what everyone has to say. I need to get my 1st pair!
ReplyDeleteI am a Brooks girl. My first pair was the pair you have in your video. Loved them. I went back to get a another pair and my husband talked me into a pair of Asics. I thought I loved the Asics, but eventually I went back and got a pair of Brooks Ghost 5,just like the ones in the linkup picture. Back to loving my shoes.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo, I linked up lady! It's amazing what a difference a good pair makes!
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of NB that I got fitted for and really love... But they are like 4 years old. Hehe.
ReplyDeleteI am still figuring out all these blogger link up button things, but cant get your link up button to show up as a button... but I did participate! :)

I keep hearing so many good things about Brooks! When I get a new pair next month, I'm hoping to snag a deal on a pair!
ReplyDeleteGet your asses out there and run -- love it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun link up! Looking forward to finding some new blogs!
LOL Im trying to get my ass out and run! I wish there was magical powder for my right shin though!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, shoes make all the difference!! I've only lost 1 toenail, not pretty!
ReplyDeleteBrooke posse! Woot! I cant wait to hear what you get this time!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...losing toenails?! No BUENO. Thanks for hosting with me, Mel....such a great topic, and I'm learning more than I thought I would from these other posts!
ReplyDeleteMy friend has lost her toenails from running, ugh, I dove straight in when I started and went to the running store to buy the $100+ running shoes. It made such a difference!
ReplyDeleteGreat link-up, if I get motivated enough later, I might have to write another post for today and linky with ya!
I.love.brooks. Amazeballs. I have the Glycerin 10s. Just got them from Big River Running about a month ago. These baby's are helping me PR in April, I'm certain.
ReplyDeleteLove reading about everyone's shoe preferences! I was out the door earlier than usual today and had a late night last night so I totally forgot to take a picture of my kicks. I also just tried to Google them but don't know what model they are. LOL I will be participating, I'll just be a little late, as in tonight if that's okay!
ReplyDeleteI just went to Get Fit (running store) and got fitted for my first GOOD pair of running shoes. They fitted me with several and I ended up with a pair of Mizunos. Really liking them. I asked about brooks but they said those wouldn't be good for high mileage. Thoughts? What kind of weekly mileage do you average?
ReplyDeleteHey lady! Would you be interested in swapping buttons?
ReplyDeleteFollowed the link up button from another blog...so glad I did! I'm a Nike girl, always have been but I think my next pair will be Brooks!
ReplyDeleteTried grabbing your button but apparently don't know how to get it on my page. Do I paste the URL as a new gadget??
ReplyDeleteYes you will add a new gadget and paste the HTML in there. You will choose Configure HTML/JavaScript as the gadget - hope this helps. Also I run on average around 17-20 miles a week or more - when I am really going at it. I love my Brooks but haven't tried the Mizunos yet either - so can't truthfully compare. Hope this helps...
DeleteMy Brooks Glycerin 10s should be here TODAY!! I'm hoping to rock them in my 10K Saturday. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I had a similar experience when I started running. First I tried running in my regular "rugged" looking tennis shoes...killer! Then I got the cutest lightest ones I could find....wrong again. I got the funky purple toe nail...awesome. Mine didn't fall off though thank goodness. I got better ones that don't cause the big purple toe but now they are wearing down. I am planning on heading to Fleet Feet during my lunch break this week to see what they recommend! yay!
